The grandson of John McDONALD and Lydia GRIFFIN (sister of Ann BATES), William James MCDONALD, grazier, aged 32, married Susan Mary TYRRELL, on 17 Jul 1893 at St Pauls Church, Rothbury. St Pauls no longer exists, but the cemetery is located behind Annie’s Cottage Vineyard, which is where the TYRRELLS are buried.
Susan's parents were listed as Susan HUNGERFORD and Edward TYRRELL, Vigneron. William's father was listed as George Frederick McDONALD, grazier and his mother as Susannah Smith McFIE. The Minister was Walter TOLLIS. Witnesses at the marriage were Susan's father Edward TYRRELL and R MacDONALD. The marriage was registered at Greta.
Susan TYRRELL married William MacDONALD who planted the Ben Ean vineyard, now owned by Lindemans.
